President Akufo-Addo has directed the Inspector-General of Police to provide former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu 24-hour protection.
The instruction is coming after the former SP alleged that some persons have threatened to kill him following his report on the Agyapa deal.
Mr. Amidu in an interview with Accra based Citi FM disclosed he has picked intelligence of a plan to rob, burn his house and even kill him.
He also disclosed his efforts to speak to National Security Minister proved futile.
He then asked Ghanaians to blame the President should anything happen to him.
Reacting to this, the president has instructed the IGP to provide him 24-hour protection.
The Director of Communication at the Presidency Eugene Arhin disclosed this.
He wrote: “The attention of the Office of the President has been drawn to claims by Mr Martin Amidu, the former Special Prosecutor, of threats made against his life since his resignation from office. The President has, thus, directed the Inspector General of Police to provide Mr Amidu immediately with 24 hour police protection.
The former Special Prosecutor is also encouraged to assist the police with details of persons who have made these threats against his life, so that they can be dealt with in accordance with the laws of the country.’
