The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has invited the Member of Parliament for Tamale Central Inusah Fuseini for questioning for asking former President John Dramani Mahama to form a parallel government and declare himself president.
The invitation was sent to the Speaker of Parliament Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye asking him to release the MP for questioning.
He is expected to report to the CID headquarters tomorrow (Thursday, December 24, 2020).
The Speaker has since released the MP asking him to report to the CID.
The Speaker in his letter to the MP stated that having regard to the limitations of articles 117 and 118 of the 1992 Constitution, and the fact that the house has been adjourned sine die, the MP must make himself available for questioning.
Founder of the Faith African Faith Tabernacle Church Pastor Kwabena Mensah has asked former President John Dramani Mahama to concede defeat in the interest of peace.
The man of God said although the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised concerns over the results, they have to let go.
He claims Ghanaians will reward Mr. Mahama with massive votes in 2024 should they forget about the 2020 results and accept defeat.
Pastor Kwabena Mensah speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm said it is painful to lose an election but in the interest of peace and unity, Mr. John Dramani Mahama must accept defeat and move on.
Pastor Kwabena Mensah said the NDC as a party has not collapsed and for them to be elected in 2024, they should just forget about it.
He advised the leadership of the NDC to speak to their followers to stop the demonstrations.
The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken former President John Dramani Mahama to the cleaners over his claims that the 2020 presidential election has been rigged in favour of President Akufo-Addo.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, December 14, 2020, General Secretary John Boadu stated that the former president has no basis in making such claims.
He said the election was free, fair and transparent and the report from the international observers pointed to a victory for the NPP.
He noted the former president is only disputing the results because of his selfish interest.
John Boadu pointed out to Mr. Mahama that he has lost hence he should accept defeat because his ego is not bigger than the country.
He asked the Peace Council, the National House of Chiefs, and the Media to point out to the former president that he has lost the election and should concede defeat.
He said Mr. Mahama is playing according to a script and the purpose of his fusions is to court sympathy so that the party will elect him as presidential candidate for 2024.
He challenged the NDC to go to the Supreme Court if they think the results were rigged and stop their supporters from demonstrating.
He said that is what democrats do just as President Akufo-Addo did in the 2012 election.
Former President John Dramani Mahama has disclosed he will concede defeat if the Electoral Commission (EC) conducts an independent audit of the results.
He disclosed this in an interview with Voice of America(VOA) on Tuesday.
According to him, the anomalies that marred the just ended December 7 elections cannot be overlooked.
“We are currently doing a forensic audit of all the constituencies first to establish what happened and then confirm the figures that we have. Because this case might end up in court…I don’t know, I cannot mention anything for now but we are doing an audit, and based on that we’ll take whatever decision we need to take.
“But I think that in the interest of the more than 6million people who voted for me, I must uphold our democracy and hold the Electoral Commission to a higher standard and hold this government to a higher standard in terms of our democracy. The way President Akufo Addo and the EC have conducted this election is a dent on our democratic credentials as a government. And so with my principles as a democrat, I can’t be seen to be sweeping it under the carpet and letting it go.”
He added: “I think that we must bring closure to this by seeing exactly where the issues are.
If an independent audit is done by the EC, they’ll bring somebody in to crunch the numbers do an independent audit why not, I’ll be the first person to concede and walk away. But as long as that is not done and I know that there was a deliberate attempt to subvert the will of the people in favor of the incumbent it will be wrong for me in terms of our democratic practices to just leave it because we’ll not learn the lessons of this election.
I think we must learn the lessons of this election so that we don’t repeat it in future one.”
A Deputy National Campaign Manager for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mustapha Hamid, is claiming that a vote for former President John Dramani Mahama would mean a fugitive would be presiding over as president.
He says a vote for the former president will be detrimental to Ghana’s growth if John Dramani Mahama is voted into power as President.
Speaking on the Airbus scandal, the Deputy Campaign Manager said: “Whichever way you look at it, former President John Mahama has been accused in court documents, appearing in three countries for his personal involvement in an international bribery scandal valued at 5 million euros. What this means is that John Mahama could soon face the International Criminal Justice System. This is the man on the ballot paper that will be handed over to you on Monday. He will be presented to you as a presidential candidate”.
He accused Mahama of failing to travel to the UK since the bribery scandal was reported.
He said “when you choose him, you risk choosing a president who may be a fugitive in France, the UK, and the USA. Prosecutors in all three countries, in striking a deal with Airbus for the fines, made it clear that it will not stop them from pursuing the individuals involved. This means that candidate Mahama risks arrest if he steps anywhere near those shores.”
“Can you imagine a President of the Republic of Ghana with an International arrest warrant on his head? A President who would not be able to travel freely abroad to fight and negotiate for Ghana? That is the risk of voting for John Mahama. The alternative is indeed scarier than we all thought,” he added.
Former President John Dramani Mahama has opined that his defeat in 2016 was based on an exaggerated negative perception of his government and person.
Speaking to Accra based Joy News, the former president indicated that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) used the power of social media to spin lies and propaganda against his government.
He lamented this created a negative perception in the minds of Ghanaians about his administration.
He disclosed that when the NPP started spinning their lies and propaganda on social media, his government ignored it thinking that Ghanaians would be able to quickly spot the lies but “you know somehow perception is larger than reality.”
“Sometimes in politics you have these upsets and it is based on a certain reality, a perceived reality. In 2016, social media was coming into its own, we had recognized the benefits but we didn’t know it would be used as a campaign tool. And the NPP used it very effectively to really create the perception – exaggerated – of our administration that the economy was in a big mess,” John Mahama said.
He continued: “They used a lot of propaganda on social media to tar us with the brush of corruption, incompetence, and telling a lot of tales that I was the owner of DKM. Today you see a picture and the owner of DKM is walking with the Interior Minister very comfortably in an NPP T-shirt, but they made people believe that Lordina and I owned DKM and that we brought it to fleece the people of Brong Ahafo and the places where DKM operated.
“They said that I had a hotel in Dubai, I challenged them recently, I said ‘look, lets’ go and then find the hotel. We can sell it if it’s mine and bring the money to help the economy’. They didn’t take up the challenge. There has been a loud silence.
“They said I have ships in Tokyo harbor. Myself and Lordina diverted 300 million dollars World Bank money to a Swiss account, I had impregnated my housemaid, I mean it was just… they had troll factories that were just manufacturing these stories.
“And the mistake we made was we said ‘O but Ghanaians will know this is not true’ and so we didn’t really come out to defend and explain so we just left it. And you’d assume that these are things people will realise that they’re not true but you know somehow perception is larger than reality so…”
Mr. Mahama who is seeking re-election said his administration laid the foundation for a buoyant economy and that the economy would have been better off if the NDC had been retained in the 2016 elections.
“Meanwhile in 2016 we had laid the foundation. We had created two new oil fields, new revenues were coming in 2017. We had created ESLA; we had left 270 million dollars in the Ghana infrastructure investment fund as seed money; we had left 300 million dollars in the stabilization fund; we had left money in the sinking fund; 200 million dollars to pay off the Kufuor debt.
“The economy was coming onto its own and created a platform for a new government to take off. But they really had messed up the opportunity.”
“They get 5 times more revenue from oil than we did, everything we did in this economy was with one oil field, Jubilee. This government has had Jubilee, Ten field, Sankofa; three oil wells with revenues coming from these three oil wells, and yet they’ve not been able to create the kind of economic buoyancy that is needed.”
A Spiritualist based in the Bono East Region, Nana Mosi has put his life on the line declaring an impressive and massive victory for former President John Dramani Mahama in the presidential election.
Speaking in an exclusive with Rainbow Radio’s Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi, the Spiritualist said he should be beheaded just like John the Baptist in the bible and be exhibited for the entire nation to see.
Nana Mosi stated without mincing words that all the prophecies that pointed to a victory for President Akufo-Addo are false and should be ignored.
Describing himself as a powerful spiritualist, Nana Mosi said he knows what God revealed to him, and if Ghanaians are doubting him, he wants to be beheaded if his prophecy does not come to pass.
When he was referred to the prophecy by Prophet Owusu Bempah saying, the former president will lose, the spiritualist said: ”Owusu Bempah predicts, he expresses opinions. He does not prophesy, he only predicts. I am a powerful spiritualist whose power can be, compared, to the prophets in the holy books.
”Listen to me carefully, I am a powerful person, and I don’t peddle lies like the other prophets who fumble with their prophecies. I am stating categorically, that, If my prophecy does not come to pass, behead me,” he added.
The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has expressed disbelief over claims being made by the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, that he (Mahama) begun the Free Senior High School policy.
On Tuesday, 24th November 2020, whilst on a tour of some constituencies in the Upper East stated that “we started the programme (Free SHS) and the NPP came and continued it.”
Addressing a gathering at Odorkor on Wednesday, 25th November 2020, President Akufo-Addo described the statement made by John Mahama as “something yesterday which shocked me”.
According to President Akufo-Addo, when he promised, in the run-up to the 2008, 2012 and 2016 campaigns, “they (John Mahama and the NDC) said that I was deceiving Ghanaians, and that it was a vote-buying gimmick and that for it (Free SHS) to be possible, it would take about 20 years”.
He continued, “Not long ago, he said that if he had GH¢2 billion, he wouldn’t use it to pay school fees, but rather he would use it on something profitable. Today, he says that he (Mahama) introduced Free S.H.S. Are we going to allow the former president to come back to power through lies and deception?”, to which the crowd responded with a big “no.”
The President added that the “lies” from the NDC presidential candidate “are borne out of one thing, and that is his campaign is failing to catch up with the electorate. He has seen that his campaign is collapsing in confusion, fabrications, and now outright lies.”
To residents of Odorkor in the Ablekuma North constituency, he told them to give him and the New Patriotic Party a resounding first-round victory in the presidential election, and an overwhelming majority in parliament.
“I am looking for a massive endorsement for the people of Ghana for that blueprint which is set out in our manifesto of 2020. So, this year, I am pleading with you, I don’t want it in ‘boom’. but I want it in ‘boom! boom! boom!’”, President Akufo-Addo added.
