‘It Is Now Obvious That EC Has Rigged Techiman South For NPP’ – PPP

Running mate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Kofi Asamoah-Siaw has opined that it has become obvious that the Electoral Commission (EC) rigged the Techiman South parliamentary polls in favour of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr. Asamoah-Siaw says it has become obvious that the NPP did not win the polls but connived with the EC to rig it in their favour.

“It is becoming very obvious that the New Patriotic Party did not win the Techiman South Parliamentary seat. Yet, every attempt is being made to steal that seat from the National Democratic Congress. I am not a member of the NDC, but as a citizen interested to serve in public service through politics, I consider it extremely unfair, treasonable, unjust and a dangerous threat to our democracy to allow my good friend, Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah to be sworn-in as a Member of Parliament.”

In an opinion piece, Mr. Asamoah-Siaw indicated that people know the truth but for the sake of politics, they have refused to speak up.

“We all know the truth, but for politics of convenience and other interests, we have feigned ignorance and allowing the national interest to be compromised.”

He slammed the EC Chairperson questioning why her outfit has failed to publish the declared results for the constitiency.

“My biggest disappointment, as a believer in public service, in Mrs Jean Mensah, is her manifest refusal to publish the “collated” parliamentary results for Techiman South as dictated by CI 127, her own drafted legislation for election 2020. (For the records, I took the same principled and independent stance when her predecessor, Madam Charlotte Osei manifestly ignored provisions of CI 94 to unnecessarily disqualify the PPP’s Presidential Candidate in the run up to the 2016 elections).”

Techiman South & Related Matters

In this write up, I will mention the names and titles or positions of key public figures and public officers and call on them to be sincere and truthful to us the people of Ghana as we attempt to resolve the controversy over the outcome of the 2020 parliamentary elections in the Techiman South constituency.

This is important to me because our inability to resolve the the Techiman South controversy fairly, justly and timely will be an endorsement, by the people I will name herein, of the culture of abuse of power, hypocrisy, selfishness and sometimes utter dishonesty and recklessness. Those who pursue these “cultural elements” and their collaborators should know, if they do not already know, that their actions and/or inactions threaten our democracy.

I am naming and calling on the following people to do the right thing and put the national interest first and foremost above all personal, partisan, emotional, ethnic, religious or any other interest.

The people on my list, among others, include His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, H.E. Vice President Dr. Bawumia, Ministers of State, the Speaker and all Members of Parliament, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Inspector General of Police, the Chief Justice and Judges of the Superior Courts of Ghana, the entire membership of the Peace Council, the Catholic Bishops Conference, the Christian Council, the Pentecostal Council, the Attorney-General and her Deputy, my own “Santa-mate” and respected legal brain Godfred Yeboah Dame, the entire media especially the GJA President Alfred Monny, Bernard Avle of Citi FM, Winston Amoah of Joy FM, Kwame Sefa Kayi of Peace FM, Kwaku Baako Jnr of the New Crusading Guide, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Mrs. Jean Mensah and her commissioners among other important senior citizens and ordinary citizens of this our beloved country.

It is becoming very obvious that the New Patriotic Party did not win the Techiman South Parliamentary seat. Yet, every attempt is being made to steal that seat from the National Democratic Congress. I am not a member of the NDC, but as a citizen interested to serve in public service through politics, I consider it extremely unfair, treasonable, unjust and a dangerous threat to our democracy to allow my good friend, Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah to be sworn-in as a Member of Parliament.

We all know the truth, but for politics of convenience and other interests, we have feigned ignorance and allowing the national interest to be compromised.

My biggest disappointment, as a believer in public service, in Mrs Jean Mensah, is her manifest refusal to publish the “collated” parliamentary results for Techiman South as dictated by CI 127, her own drafted legislation for election 2020. (For the records, I took the same principled and independent stance when her predecessor, Madam Charlotte Osei manifestly ignored provisions of CI 94 to unnecessarily disqualify the PPP’s Presidential Candidate in the run up to the 2016 elections).

The attitude of Mrs. Jean Mensah in this matter appear to me an attempt to “assist”, “aid” or “collaborate” with the New Patriotic Party to unjustly appropriate a seat in their unholy bid to seure a majority in parliament.

I thought politics is about honestly participating in the democratic process, allowing the citizens to elect their representatives freely and allowing that democratic choices to stand without any form of manipulation. If we do not want to do that, then we might as well forget this our democratic enterprise.

I like public service and active politics but I like to do politics that is in the national interest. If any other interest conflicts with the national interest, I have made a personal decision that the national interest must remain supreme. It is in this respect, that I call on the important people named herein to think Ghana first and correct the obvious injustice in the Techiman South Constituency. It will be unacceptable to allow the EC to perpetuate an obvious injustice, allow Martin Korsah to be sworn-in in as an MP and ask the victims of a fraudulent declaration to rather go to court when we all know what it means to go to court at this stage.

All the eminent names I mentioned owe it to the nation Ghana to let the EC do the right thing. If the EC cannot publish the collation sheet and the summary sheet for Techiman South Parliamentary Elections, why should we accept it as normal and occasion a clear act of injustice?

Injustice anywhere is a threat to peace everywhere, so we must as a country put Ghana first ahead of any parochial interest we may have.

State power, we were taught in school by Professors Mike Oquaye, Gyimah-Boadi, Boafo Arthur, Ninsin, Keith Bluwey, Yao Gebe, Antwi Danso etc, is to be exercised in the pursuit of the national interest. We were also taught that political parties exist to pursue their interest; which is to win and maintain political power.

However, level headed politicians, senior public officers, heads of security services, the clergy, the media and other citizens have a duty to ensure that the pursuit of partisan and other interests do not compromise the national interest. The national interest at stake here is that the right winner of the Techiman South Constituency Parliamentary Elections be declared by the EC before the next parliament is sworn-in.

I therefore conclude by calling on the eminent citizens named herein to make sure that the Techiman South Constituency Parliamentary election results are properly collated and declared for the right winner before a wrong person is sworn-in.

Fomena MP pledges to do business with NPP

The former Member of Parliament (MP) for Fomena Constituency, Andrew Amoako Asiamah who won his seat as an independent candidate has disclosed his intention to do business with the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The former MP has won the seat as an Independent Candidate after he was sacked from the party and his seat was declared as vacant before the general elections.

Mr. Amoako Asiamah is returning to Parliament after his seat was declared vacant by the Speaker of Parliament, Prof Aaron Mike Oquaye last month.

The development followed a decision by Mr. Asiamah to contest for re-election as an independent candidate after he lost the New Patriotic Party primary.

The NPP in October this year indicated that by going as an independent candidate, Mr Asiamah forfeited his membership of the party per the Article 3(9) of the party’s constitution.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Article 97(1)(g) of the Constitution states that: A member of Parliament shall vacate his seat in Parliament if he leaves the party of which he was a member at the time of his election to Parliament to join another party or seeks to remain in Parliament as an independent member,” Mr. Boadu said.

The party subsequently wrote a petition to parliament demanding for the seat to be declared vacant.

His seat was subsequently declared vacant but he won the election.

He polled 12,805 votes to win Monday’s Fomena Parliamentary Election

He defeated the NPP candidate Mr. Philip Ofori-Asante who got 10,798 votes and the NDC candidate Christina Ama Ranson who had 2,608 votes.

Speaking to journalists today, he said the president has through some persons reached out to him.

According to him, he cannot take any offer without recourse to his constituents.

To him, his decision would be in the national interest.

When asked if he will reapply as a member of the NPP, he said he will cross that bridge when he gets to that point.

We Prevented NDC From Rigging Essikado Ketan Polls-NPP

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Essikado Ketan constituency has denied rigging the constituency election.

The party has since described the claims as spurious.

The party is rather blaming the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of being behind plots to rig the polls which they (NPP), stopped.

“We had received unconfirmed reports that the NDC was seeking to rig the elections so we of the NPP were very alert on the day of the election.

Voting ended at 5pm with no serious incident being reported by our polling agents at the various polling stations. Counting was done at each polling station in the full view of the public and the result at every polling station was declared at each polling station. After this, the necessary documentation, the pink sheet, was duly filled and signed by all the parties present.”

STATEMENT BY ESSIKADO KETAN NPP ON 2020 ELECTIONS

Our attention has been drawn to spurious and baseless allegations of alleged massive fraud by the NPP in the recent Parliamentary Elections.

We had received unconfirmed reports that the NDC was seeking to rig the elections so we of the NPP were very alert on the day of the election.

Voting ended at 5pm with no serious incident being reported by our polling agents at the various polling stations. Counting was done at each polling station in the full view of the public and the result at every polling station was declared at each polling station. After this, the necessary documentation, the pink sheet, was duly filled and signed by all the parties present.

Our representatives went to the Collation Centre of the Essikado Ketan Constituency which is at the Methodist Church, Brigade Hall, Essikado. The Electoral Commission Officials started receiving the ballot boxes and electoral materials from their officials who were coming in from the various polling stations.

At the time NDC supporters led by their candidate Grace Ayensu Danquah and other party members including former Minister for National Security rushed to the Collation Centre claiming the NDC had won the parliamentary election. At the time we had not even collated the Presidential vote. Their members who were carrying knifes and other implements started throwing stones into the Collation Center.

There was absolutely no basis for this commotion. Neither was there any basis for the claim that NDC had won the Parliamentary election when the results from the various polling stations had not been officially collated and announced by the Returning Officer. Around 11 pm Grace Ayensu and her team left the Collation Centre having been repelled by the police and military when they sought to take over the Collation Centre.

Collation of the Presidential results started and ended around 9.50 am. This was won by Nana Akufo-Addo. The collation of the Parliamentary results commenced around 10 am.

Three members of the NDC were present. This included one Alidiu who presented himself as the NDC youth organizer and a lawyer who said he was representing the NDC Parliamentary Candidate. During the collation the representatives of NDC raised issues once in a while and it was only after the issues they raised were resolved that the EC continued the process.

At the end of the process, the Returning Officer announced the votes of the Three Candidates who stood for Parliamentary election in Essikado Ketan Constituency and declared our candidate, Joe Ghartey, the winner. We challenge the NDC to prove the allegations of fraud at the appropriate quarters.

Signed
Thomas Amoah
Constituency Secretary

According to the party, when the electoral body was looking for pink sheets, it contacted the NPP because they managed to get all their pink sheets.

The press conference was organized about the Techiman South constituency parliamentary election.

The NPP further disputed claims that it deployed the military to the collation centre to intimidate people and use them to change results.

When I accepted the nomination as running mate to John Mahama, I was clear in my mind that I was going to be at the center of a historic effort.

However, to say that I anticipated the overwhelmingly positive reaction would be to downplay the depth of this wonderful experience. I also saw first hand, many parts of our country whose dreams and hopes depend on honest and competent leadership.

John Mahama and I will live up to this task. We pledge to you, that under our leadership, no citizen will be forgotten. We will build a thriving Ghana that extends opportunities to all citizens regardless of status and background.

We stand at the cusp of history. Nana Addo Will Win By One-Touch, NPP To Get 170 Seats-Kufour

Former President John Agyekum Kufour has opined that we need bold, visionary, and human leadership to make Ghana develop.

He said a vote for a leader without a vision will make Ghana retrogress.

The former president speaking at the final rally organized by the NPP at Mantse Agbonaa on Saturday stated that although the president was heavily criticized for the number of ministers he appointed, he has delivered a leadership that has transformed lives.

He said President Akufo-Addo has led a leadership that has helped implement the free senior school policy and other social intervention policies.

Contrary to claims that the NPP is a capitalist party, the former president noted a vote for former President Mahama will retrogress the country.

He insisted the president has used the first term to do a lot for Ghanaians and must be voted for.

Mr. Kufour told the charged crowd that the policies of the NPP are far superior to that of the NDC.

He disclosed from the information he has gathered, President Akufo-Addo will win the presidential election by a one-touch victory and a majority of 170 seats in the next parliament.

This prediction he added is based on science and surveys conducted by the party.

He ended by appealing to Ghanaians to retain the president so they will not regret it.

Don’t Vote For Mahama, He Is Now A Fugitive-NPP

A Deputy National Campaign Manager for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mustapha Hamid, is claiming that a vote for former President John Dramani Mahama would mean a fugitive would be presiding over as president.

He says a vote for the former president will be detrimental to Ghana’s growth if John Dramani Mahama is voted into power as President.

Speaking on the Airbus scandal, the Deputy Campaign Manager said: “Whichever way you look at it, former President John Mahama has been accused in court documents, appearing in three countries for his personal involvement in an international bribery scandal valued at 5 million euros. What this means is that John Mahama could soon face the International Criminal Justice System. This is the man on the ballot paper that will be handed over to you on Monday. He will be presented to you as a presidential candidate”.

He accused Mahama of failing to travel to the UK since the bribery scandal was reported.

He said “when you choose him, you risk choosing a president who may be a fugitive in France, the UK, and the USA. Prosecutors in all three countries, in striking a deal with Airbus for the fines, made it clear that it will not stop them from pursuing the individuals involved. This means that candidate Mahama risks arrest if he steps anywhere near those shores.”

“Can you imagine a President of the Republic of Ghana with an International arrest warrant on his head? A President who would not be able to travel freely abroad to fight and negotiate for Ghana? That is the risk of voting for John Mahama. The alternative is indeed scarier than we all thought,” he added.

Disqualified Aspirants Of NPP Speaks Against ‘Skirt & Blouse’

A group calling itself Coalition of Disqualified Patriots, which is made up of NPP parliamentary aspirants have made a strong case for President Akufo-Addo asking voters to give him four more years.

The group who were disqualified from contesting in the party”s June 2020 parliamentary primaries said voters must not be deceived by the promises of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to them, a vote for the NDC will being back incompetence, mismanagement, corruption, and hardship.

The group is also advocating against ‘skirt and blouse’.

They believe the free SHS, one district one factory, one village one dam, and other social intervention policies have helped transform lives.

To them, the president needs four more years to door more for voters.

The group is campaigning vigorously against apathy while encouraging voters to be mindful of the unprecedented achievements of H E Nana Addo.
